The original purpose of freelief.com
When I first registered this ridiculous domain (even Google asks me, did you mean freelife?) years ago, my main interest on teh intertubez was saving money and getting freebies.
The best example of those humble beginnings is the artifact known as the free prints page.
I moved it to Squidoo as it was easier to maintain that way, easy to update from anywhere, and the Google page rank boost was nice too.
Here’s a brief overview of the kinds of offers on the current free prints page:
- Kodak Gallery: 75 FREE prints!
- Snapfish: 50 FREE prints!
- SeeHere: 50 FREE prints! (coupon code prints-8 exp. 3/31/09)
- dotPhoto: 50 FREE prints!
- Clark Colorlabs: 40 FREE prints!
- Shutterfly: 25 FREE prints!
- PhotoWorks: 25 FREE prints!
- RitzPix: 16 FREE prints! (coupon code newfree4×6)
Please note that these offers are generally limited to new customers upon their initial site registration.
Since that impulsive dotcom startup in a frugal-by-necessity former life, things have improved substantially. I haven’t lurked in the freebie-grabbing, coupon-swapping, deal-stacking forums much. I still try to live without excess and waste, but time spent clipping coupons for products I don’t use in hopes of mailing them to someone who might have a 50 cent coupon for my brand of deodorant just isn’t effective use of my time.
I do miss the simple thrill of being one of the first 500 site visitors to register and receive a full-size sample of a new product free, though. That was just like winning the lottery. Except instead of cash, I got … stuff.
